Lumecca IPL

About Lumecca IPL

Lumecca IPL is the most powerful intense pulsed light (IPL) on the market that treats pigmented and vascular lesions. Patients who have age spots, sun damage, superficial vessels and rosacea can expect superior clearance in 1-3 treatments versus 4-6 compared to the standard IPL. IPL Treatments improve skin complexion, reduce skin irregularities, and helps patients look years younger. Whether your areas of concern are brown or red, our IPL can exceed your expectations in getting the clearance you desire.

How Lumecca IPL Works

Lumecca IPL works by delivering high-energy pulses of broad-spectrum light to the skin’s surface. This light is absorbed by the targeted areas, such as sunspots, age spots, freckles, and blood vessels, without harming the surrounding skin. The absorbed light energy converts into heat, which then destroys the unwanted pigmentation or coagulates blood vessels, leading to their gradual disappearance. Additionally, Lumecca stimulates collagen production, resulting in firmer, more youthful-looking skin over time.

Session Details and Additional Services

Consultation:

  • Before undergoing a Lumecca treatment, you’ll have a consultation with one of our experienced and trained professionals. During this consultation, you’ll discuss your skin concerns, treatment goals, medical history, and any previous treatments you’ve undergone.
  • The provider will evaluate your skin condition and determine if Lumecca is suitable for you. They’ll explain the procedure in detail, including what to expect during and after treatment, and address any questions or concerns you may have.

Treatment:

  • Treatment time is typically 15-45 minutes but may vary based on your treatment area. First, ultrasound gel is applied to your skin. Additionally, you will wear protective eyewear during the procedure. There may be some mild discomfort, but it is minimal and brief.
  • During treatment there will be a bright flash of light on your skin that feels like a light elastic sensation. Redness and a slight warming of the skin are normal after treatment and usually subsides within an hour. Over the next 24-48 hours you may see a darkening of pigmented spots. In the week afterwards, the pigmented lesions flake off, leading to an evening out of skin tone. After treating vascular lesions, you may see the vein blanch and disappear or a color change in the vessel which dissipates after a few days.

Post-Procedure Care:

  • Afterwards, you will be sent home with post-procedure instructions.
  • Above all, please avoid prolonged sun exposure for at least 2 weeks post treatment and practice sun safety.

Results

  • An improved skin appearance can be noted following the first session. However, multiple sessions provide even better results.  Treatment regime will depend on the severity of skin damage, skin type, and type of treatment (vascular vs sun damage).
